Alexandria City Probate Records

Alexandria is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia located on the Western bank of the Potomac River. The historic center is called "Old Town." While a portion of adjacent Fairfax County is named Alexandria, it is under the jurisdiction of Fairfax County and separate from the city. In 1920, the General Assembly of Virginia voted to incorporate what had been Alexandria County into Arlington County, Virginia. The surviving court house records for Alexandria City which began records in 1800.
