The county of Carroll was organized by an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee on November 7, 1821. It lies on the dividing ridge between the Tennessee and Mississippi Rivers and is adjoined on the north by Weakley and Henry Counties, east by Benton and Decatur, south by Henderson and Madison and west by Gibson County. The earliest known settlements to the area was about 1820 in McLemoresville and Buena Vista. County Seat: Huntingdon.
