June 19, 1846. Died on Friday 20th May, Dr. Samuel M. Mark, a native of Laurens Dist., N. C. and for 27 years a citizen of Tuscaloosa Alabama.
August 21, 1846, In the matter of the estate of David Hawkins, late of Marion County, deceased, in the County Court setting of Orphan's business, Joel Hawkins and Daniel Lizmore, administrators of the goods and chattels, rights and credits of the said David Hawkins. Having presented their accounts and vouchers to the said court for a final settlement of their accounts, as such administrators and the said court having examined, audited, and stated the said account and reported the same for allowance at the said term of court, to be held on the first Monday of November next. Aug. 21. 1845
October 9, 1846. Married in this city on the 6th inst. by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Cobbs, Mr. Robert H. Neilson to Miss Charlotte Warren.

Oct. 16, 1846. Administrator's Notice to Sell Land. Notice is hereby given, that the petition of David Johnston, administrator on the estate of Francis M. Douglass, will be heard before the Orphan's Court of Tuscaloosa County, on the second Monday in December next, to sell the real estate of said Douglass. David Johnston, Administrator. Oct 16, 1846.
Oct. 23, 1846. Married in this county on Thurs. evening 15th inst by the Rev. T. F. Curtis, Arthur Foster, Esq. to Miss Elizabeth, daughter of John L. S. Foster, Esq.
Married in Madison County James Phelan, Esq. of Marion, Perry County to Miss Eliza, daughter of Dr. Alfred Moore.
Died at Matsmorns, Mexico on the 27th ult., Lieut. John L. May of Greensboro Independent Volunteers. The deceased was the oldest son of John May, Esq. of this place, and was 1st Liet. of the Greensboro Volunteers-Ala Beacon.
Died of congestive fever at this residence on the 22nd ult, the Hon. S. C. Smith, a native of South Carolina. His father, Wm. C. Smith, emigrated to Madison County, Alabama many years since, where the subject of this memoir was raised and married to Miss Norman in 1833. He emigrated to DeKalb in 1836; was elected Clerk of the County Court in 1837; elected to the Representative branch off the States Legislature in 1839; elected Senator from DeKalb and Cherokee Counties; served in that body two sessions, and in 1844 was re-elected to the Senate--all of which stations he filled with honor to himself and to the satisfaction of a large majority of his constituents. He has left a wife, six daughters, and one son to mourn his loss.
Nov. 6, 1846. Died in this town on Wed. night last in the 22nd year of her age, Mrs. Emily S. Smith, consort of Robert H. Smith, Esq. and daughter of the late Richard and Mary Inge. Thrice in the last few months has death sped his bitter shaft into the bosom of the afflicted family of the deceased. First fell her brother, the gallant Montgomery Inge, then the grave received Gen. Crabb, the talented and lamented Jurist; and they are now followed by her who is the subject of this notice.--Livingston Whig.
Notice. Pursuant to a decree of the Orphans Court of Marion County, Alabama, made on the 19th day of October A. D. 1846, the undersigned appointed by said court, as commissioners to sell the real estate of Bailey Fleming, late of said county, deceased, will on Tues. the 14th day of December next, at the late residence of said Fleming, offer for sale, to the highest bidder, on a credit of twelve months, the following described lands, to-wit: The east half of the northeast quarter of Section No. 8, township No. 14 of Range 15, west; also the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section No. 8, township No. 14 to Range 15, west; also situated in the state and county aforesaid. Dec. 11, 1846. Married--Near Greensboro on the 3d inst. by the Rev. L. D. Hatch, Augustus Bennett, Esq. to Miss Jane, daughter of Mr. Alfred Hatch.
Married near Marion, on the 30th ult. by the Rev. J. H. Devotie, Hon. Benjamin Fitzpatrick to Miss Aurelia Blassiingame.
Married in Rockford, Coosa County on the 18th alt. by the Rev. Mr. Sparks, Thomas D. Clarke, Esq., Attorney General of the State to Miss Virginia Powell.
Died in Carrollton, on the 27th ult., the Hon. Samuel B. Moore formerly Gov. of this States, in the 58 years of his age.
Marion County Genealogy Records
Marion County was created by an Act of the Alabama Territorial General Assembly on February 13, 1818. The county seat was originally established in Pikeville in 1820 and moved to Hamilton, Alabama in 1881.
