The War was fought in Georgia during 1813 to 1815, mostly among Indian tribes enlisted by the British. The British occupied St. Mary's, and did not depart until 1815 when the war ended. Trying to locate the various forts is difficult, as old forts (such as Fort Morris) were renamed. Also, there was a fort at Sunbury, believed to be called Ft. Defiance. Another Ft. Defiance is recorded in the Georgia Militiary Records as having been in Morgan County.
