Shenandoah County Probate Records
The Shenandoah valley mountain range is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Shenandoah County was established in 1772 and was first named Dunmore County for Virginia Governor Lord Dunmore. In 1778, the county was renamed Shenandoah, a compliment to the Senedos Indian tribe. Therefore, it was no longer called Dunmore County. The present-day towns include: Strasburg, New Market, Mount Jackson, Edinburg and Toms Brook. County seat: Woodstock. The first two will books are a little difficult to read due to age.
