Bassett of New Kent County
William Bassett was a vestryman in New Kent County in 1685 and served until 1722 when he asked to be dismissed because of infirmaties. Wife, Anne. His plantation was located between the spring branch of Charles Fleming and Black Creeks Main Run, up the main run of Black Creek (left to his grandson, Thomas Bassett). To his son, John Bassett, he bequeathed land between Wayoke Main Swamp and the Spring Branch of Charles Fleming which branch runs down to the land of Thomas Ellyson.
His Last Will and Testament was dated 1720, proved 1724 in New Kent County. Issue:

- Mary Bassett married Mr. Boughan.
- Anne Bassett married Mr. Bostock.
- Elizabeth Bassett, married Mr. Howle.
- Frances Bassett, married Mr. Horsley.
- Thomas Bassett died 20 April 1720 in New Kent County, therefore he was not named in the will of his father. He served as a Burgess in New Kent County and is believed to have married four times. From the St. Peters Parish Register:
Elinor, wife of Thomas Bassett, died Sep. 3d 1713.
Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Bassett, died April 17, 1717.
Mary, wife of Thomas Bassett, died 1719.
Lidia Howle and Thomas Bassett were married Feby 25th 1719.
