Genealogy Tips
Creek Indians occupied this territory until they were finally driven out in 1836. The Creek Wars were during 1811 to 1815, during which time the Militia from adjoining counties participated. Later, cotton planters settled around the Flint River, near Albany. Genealogists should search the Georgia Militia Records to locate ancestors in specific areas during these early years.
