Georgia Military Affairs (Militia)

The Militia operated in Georgia from early Colonial days. Since every adult male was required to serve, this is an excellent source for genealogists. This record provides names of regimental soldiers and officers, correspondence, Minutes of the Council, military supplies, a letter from prisoners of the Revolutionary War describing his experience, as well as some letters from Creeks and Cherokees. Georgia was a virgin territory in the early days, and this military records provides historical and individual data. This is a rare opportunity to discover tidbits of information about soldiers who were born before 1755!
