Mahoney Home
in Glynn County

708 Reynolds Street, Brunswick, across from the court house. Timothy Mahoney built this house in 1888. He was foreman of B & W Yards. The Mahoney's hired
an architect by the name of J. A. Wood to draw up the plans for $1,000.00. It has a moorish
facade of intricate carvings on the front, columns and twin steps which lead up to the entranceway. The
front door was hewn from virgin pine, and opens into a large hallway looking on a staircase.
It has a gaslight chandelier which has been restored. The downstairs has a library, music
room, drawing room and dining room. The second story has servants quarters with a staircase
leading to the kitchen, and the third floor is reached by a closeted staircase.
The house faces the present-day courthouse, and is painted pink. At one time it was owned by
Miss Virginia McGarvey, and has been for sale a number of times. It's features include a
4 or 5 stall carriage house in the rear.
