Sir Patrick Houston of
Turkey Camp Plantation and
White Bluff Plantation
In about 1736, Sir Patrick Houstoun developed a 100-acre plantation on Cat Head Creek, west of Darien. The site ultimately consisted of 2,500 acres, which he called Turkey Camp, in McIntosh County. His son, John Houstoun (1744-1799) died on July 2 at his own plantation, White Bluff, and part of his estate consisted of 2,500 acres on Cathead Creek and 3,500 acres (Turkey Camp), in McIntosh County, all the property of his deceased father, Sir Patrick Houstoun.
