Laurel Hill Plantation



Long Island

Alexander Baillie, a son of Colonel Kenneth Baillie, established Laurel Hill in McIntosh County near the Midway River. In 1752, he petitioned for 100 acres on Long Island in Glynn County, which is now part of St. Simon's Island. In 1766, he petitioned for another 150 acres in St. Mary's Parish.
