Wimberly of Jones County

John Lewis Wimberly was born 1 October 1755 in Bertie County, North Carolina, died 2 June 1835 in Jones County, Georgia, buried in Twiggs County, near Jeffersonville. He served in the North Carolina Continental Troops during the American Revolution, and also in the Georgia Militia. He married (1) March 1779, Penelope Perry and (2) Sarah (Sally) Perry ca 1786 and (3) Priscilla Pratt ca 1805. Issue:

• Chloe Elizabeth Wimberly, born 14 January 1781, died 15 January 1865, married Elijah Watson in December of 1795.
• Major General Ezekiel Wimberly, born 1 September 1783, died 5 May 1843, married (1) ca 1803, Sarah Mims (1785-1809) (2) Mary (Polly) Bryan (1787-1875) on 18 June 1809 in Washington County.

To the heirs of Titus Wimberly, deceased, viz: Lewis T., Samuel Thomas, Milly E. Wimberly. Grand daughter, Elvira N. Pinson. Mentioned land in Early County. He married Milly Murphree (born ca 1760).
