Wimberly of Jones County


John Lewis Wimberly was born 1 October 1755 in Bertie County, North Carolina, died 2 June 1835 in Jones County, Georgia, buried in Twiggs County, near Jeffersonville. He served in the North Carolina Continental Troops during the American Revolution, and also in the Georgia Militia. He married (1) March 1779, Penelope Perry and (2) Sarah (Sally) Perry ca 1786 and (3) Priscilla Pratt ca 1805. Issue: LEWIS WIMBERLY, a brother to John Lewis Wimberly, his LWT dated 29 April 1830, probated 5 March 1832 in Jones County. Wife, Milly. To the heirs of Titus Wimberly, deceased, viz: Lewis T., Samuel Thomas, Milly E. Wimberly. Grand daughter, Elvira N. Pinson. Mentioned land in Early County. He married Milly Murphree (born ca 1760). Issue:
  1. Lewis D. Wimberly married Martha Phillips on 28 November 1833 in Jones County
  2. John P. Wimberly, born 1786, married Narcissa Garrett on 22 August 1822 in Jones County.
  3. Elizabeth Wimberly married George Childers.
  4. Sally Wimberly married Henry Mims on 7 April 1818 in Jones County.
  5. Mary Wimberly married George T. Brantley.
  6. Leuremy Wimberly married Jacob Pinson.
  7. Titus Wimberly, 1790-1830, married Martha Dumay Guerry (1796-1883)
  8. Sarah Wimberly, born 1798, married Henry Mims, born 1797.
