Legend…This family originated in Lancastershire England with William Withers born 1600, christened

in the Parish of Mellin in Arkholme, died 1684, a son of John and Jenett Wither. His son, William, came

to America, settling in Stafford County, Virginia where he died in 1698.  William had a son, James Withers,

born 6 June 1680 in Stafford County, died 6 June 1746 in the Overwharton Parish (records) Stafford

County, married Elizabeth Keene (died 26 July 1769).  It was their son, William (1726-1804) of Sussex

County, Virginia who gave birth to Willis Weathers (1758-ca 1826) \, married Polly Terry, settled in

Gilkey, Rutherford County, North Carolina.  Polly was buried in the Wellmon Graveyard in Cleveland,

North Carolina. 

 

            Isham Weathers, son of Willis and Polly (Terry) Weathers, was born 2 May 1780 in Gilkey, Rutherford County, North Carolina, died 10 June 1863 in Randolph County, Alabama.  Isham was married to a cousin, Mary Polly Weathers (born 15 May 1783 in Gilkey), the daughter of Jesse Weathers (born 1 Jan 1754 in Albemarle Park), a brother to Willis.  Issue:

 

  • William W. Weathers married Richael Lee on 24 August 1827 in Fayette County, Georgia.
  • Jesse Weathers, born 1805 in Georgia, died 1876, buried in the Paran Bishop Church in Roanoke, Alabama.[1] Wife, Elizabeth Reeves, born 24 May 1792, died 1876 in Alabama. According to the Estate of Wyat Reeves, an account dating from 1 January 1834 to 31 December 1834 paid Jesse Weathers, administrator, in right of his wife, Elizabeth Weathers.[2]   Jesse Weathers married Elizabeth Reeves on 24 January 1832 in Fayette County.
  • Willis Weathers married Lydia Landers 1 May 1836 in Fayette County.

  • Permelia Weathers.
  • Adeline Weathers.

·       Isham B. Weathers, born 31 October 1813 in Georgia, died 10 March 1897. Isham B. Weathers was a resident of Fayette County, Georgia and an active participant in the Estate of  Bailey C. Cliett in 1836, Fayette County.[3]  He was also one of the purchasers in the Estate of Wyat Reeves 1830 in Fayette County; one of the appraisers of the Estate of John Crittendon in 1829; listed in the Estate of William R. Wilson in 1832 and 1833.[4]  Isham was listed on the 1880 Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama Census with wife, Sarah T. (born 1819 in Georgia).  He listed his place of birth as North Carolina, farmer.  He was married to Sarah Ann Thompson on 19 February 1839 in Fayette County.
