Wayne of Savannah



Richard Wayne was married to Julianna Smyth. He died 1809 in Savannah, when his LWT was probated. He owned a plantation, thousands of acres, slaves, etc. which he bequeathed to his two sons, James Moore Wayne and William Clifford Wayne. No one knows where his plantation was located, presumably the sons were located on parts of it. Issue:

Wayne-Gordon House
The Wayne house was built in Savannah ca 1818 by James M. Wayne, the mayor of Savannah. In 1831 Wayne sold the home his niece and her husband, William Washington Gordon. Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of America, was born in this house on 31 October 1860.
