WARREN of Montgomery County, Georgia
Josiah Warren was born in Virginia. He removed to Onslow County, North Carolina, than to Burke County, Georgia where he died in 1806. He was a Captain on the coast of Georgia during the American Revolution, and was paid bounty lands for his services in 1782, of 287-1/2 acres of land. He married in 1774 Nancy Coty (born in New York). Issue:

Hinchey Warren was b. ca 1750 in Virginia and migrated to Montgomery Co., GA where he died in August of 1803. He named his children in his LWT, recorded 8/21/1803. Exrs: Josiah Warren, Richard Warren. Also, he named his slaves, ie: Milley, Jacob, Hannah, Rachel, Chaney, Hannah, Silva, Jammey, Davy, Bob, Dinah, Lucy, Jesse, Phillis, Jinny, Judah, Dick, Tom.
In the receipts of the estate, on page 277, Montgomery Co. Will Book G, Loose Papers, "Received of Josiah Warren and Richard Warren, executors of Estate of Hinche Warren. Wits: Mary Green, Ichabod Scarborough, Carlos Warren, William Green, John Green, Sr." 1/3/1804.
Hinchey Warren received Headright Grants of 300 acres in Burke Co., as well as 150 acres in 1788. Issue:
- Carlos Warren (sometimes spelled Caroly, Carolus) was listed on the 1820 Burke Co., Ga. Census.
- Hinchey Warren, Jr. received Headright Grant of 150 acres in 1789, Burke Co., Ga, as well as 93 acres in 1807.
- Richard Warren received Headright Grants of 200 acres in Burke Co. in 1790, and 28 acres in 1800.

- Josiah Warren was b. before 1784 and d. about 1/4/1836 in Emanuel Co. A Guardian's Bond dated 1/4/1836 to Mary Warren for Josiah Warren, orphan of Josiah Warren, in Emanuel Co. He m. 9/30/1811 in Montgomery Co. Mary Ann Lewis (1790/1800-1850/1860), who died in Florida. Josiah received Headright Grant of 300 acres in Burke Co. in 1797; 200 acres in Emanuel Co. in 1820 and 157-1/2 acres in Emanuel Co. in 1834. He was listed on the 1830 Emanuel Co. Census. Issue:

- Miles A. Warren b. 1825 Ga., d. 7/8/1864 Richmond, VA. He m. Julia Ann Ivey 3/31/1854 in Madison Co., Fl. Enlisted in Capt. Peek's Co., Bradfords Light Artillery, then Florida Infantry on 6/8/1863 in Madison, FL. This organization became part of the 4th Battalion, Florida Infantry, and ultimately, in June of 1864, part of the 11th Regt Florida Infantry. He died in General Hospital, Howards Grove, Richmond VA of Rubeola on 7/8/1864.

It appears that Hinche Warren had a brother, Josiah Warren, Revolutionary War Soldier, who was b. 1759 in VA, and d. Laurens Co., GA in 1804 or 1809. Josiah Warren removed to Onslow Co., N. C. Where he m. In 1774 Nancy Doty, b. N. J. He served as Capt. At the Coast of Georgia for its defense, receiving pay for his services in 1762 and 287-1/2 acres of land in 1785. He was known as "the Lone Horseman" from Burke Co., GA, who rode upon the excited scene before the State House in Louisville, GA, at the very moment when the papers of the Yazoo Act were about to be burned and drawing from his pocket the sun-glass, suggested to his friend, James Jackson, of GA, that the accursed document be consumed by fire drawn from Heaven. - Eli Warren of Laurens Co., Representative and State Senator from Laurens Co., member of two Constitutional Conventions, a Brigadier General in the Militia. He m. Jane Love, of Laurens Co., dau. Of Amos Love.
