Waller of Maryland, Delaware and Hancock County
The Somerset County, Maryland records reflect the existence of several Waller families, dating back to the 1680's. Nathaniel Waller of Somerset County, Maryland was born ca 1720. He was married on 21 September 1741 in Somerset County to Elizabeth Strobridge. He died in 1818, in Georgia, his LWT dated 12 September 1816, probated 4 November 1816 in Hancock County. Somerset County, Maryland Estates (1748-1777)...paid to Thomas and Nathaniel Waller for appraising the estate of Thomas Lean. 26 February 1739. Issue:

- Elizabeth Waller, born 23 May 1757 in Somerset County, Maryland.
- Joseph Waller, Sr., the son of Nathaniel Waller of Somerset County, Maryland, was born on 22 November 1751 in Somerset County, Maryland. He came from Delaware and settled in Milledgeville, Georgia, where he died in 1818, his LWT dated 17 November 1817 and probated on 3 November 1818. Wife, Elizabeth. Issue:
- John Waller died on 7 March 1842. He married on 30 November 1790, Mary Cooper, the daughter of Captain Thomas Cooper of Frederick County, Virginia. He was married to Sarah Anthony, and they had fifteen children.
- James Waller, born ca 1770 in Delaware, died 1817 in Hancock County, Georgia. The deposition of James Waller sworn on 15 July 1796, in Hancock County Deed Book A (1794-1800), page 229, as follows:
Saith that on his passage from...Delaware to....Georgia...a vessel with many other passengers, the vessel being on a bar and the crew in great distress, having had overboard great part of the load to lighten the vessel, that he, this deponent, heard James Greer apply to Levin Ellis for his mother's money, that the said Levin Ellis appeared to be ignorant of having any such charge...that the said Levin Ellis went there and unlocked his chest and he, this deponent, put his hand into the chest and took out a bag or bundle which he, this deponent, supposeth contained money that the Mrs. Elizabeth Greer (being present) claimed, this deponent further saith that he delivered to the said Elizabeth Greer....James Waller, Hancock County, GeorgiaHe was married to Elizabeth and they first settled in Greene County. James and Betsy Waller, his wife, deed to Thomas Lamar, both of Greene County, 125 acres on Shoulderbone Creek adjoining lands of Thomas Lamar, 200 acres, 21 February 1785 (Greene County Deed Book 1, page 574-5). - Phillips Waller, born ca 1807 in Hancock County, married James M. Flowers on 17 September 1827 in Hancock County.
- Eby Waller.
- James Monroe Waller, born 1803 in Hancock County, married in Alabama, Susan McCoy on 3 October 1833. He died 18 September 1883 in Columbia County, Arkansas, and was buried in the Chalybeate Springs Cemetery. Susan McCoy was born on 5 March 1818, and died 27 January 1893, buried in the Chalybeate Cemetery. She was a daughter of Leroy McCoy and his wife, Nancy (Hicks) McCoy. Issue:
- Leroy Theophilus Waller, born 29 July 1834 in Alabama, died 15 November 1891, buried in Chalybeate Cemetery. He married Martha A. (1/17/1837-2/10/1872).
- Mary Lucy Waller, born 30 October 1835 in Alabama, married E. Hilliard Rowe (9/19/1833-5/17/1906), buried in Chalybeate Cemetery.
- Rebecca A. Waller, born 29 February 1837.
- Joseph Tarpley Waller, born 28 July 1838 Alabama, died 13 July 1910, buried in Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, Alabama. He married Georgia F. Rowe.
- Columbus Arastus Waller, born 14 February 1842 in Alabama, died 20 November 1895, buried in Chalybeate Cemetery. He married Eliza Jane Gilmer (6/22/1843-5/19/1916).

- Martha Jane Waller, born 15 March 1845 in Alabama.
- James Monroe Waller, born 23 June 1847 in Alabama, died 27 November 1906, married Ann Almira Comfort Hanson.
- Epsey G. Waller, born ca 1849, married on 26 September 1865 in Columbia County, Arkansas, Columbus Talley.
- Daniel M. Waller, born January 1850 in Alabama, married on 1 July 1869 in Columbia County, Arkansas, Lucy Long.
- Nancy M. Waller, died 1925, married C. Nealy Rowe (1847-1911).
- Sarah Waller married Mack Brown.
- Joseph Waller, Jr. married Polly Dent on 17 February 1813 in Hancock County. His LWT dated 5 November 1817, probated 2 November 1818 in Baldwin County (Will Book A, page 133-134), named his wife, Briget, and their children. Issue:
