Trout Genealogy
I exhausted all the records I could find for the prescribe time period in Hall, Cobb and Cherokee Counties. Unfortunately, Cobb Co. and Cherokee Co. records were burned at an early date, so very little was there. The Ancestral File at the Morman Church lists, as follows: George Troutt was born 1771 in Rockingham Co., VA, son of Jacob and Martha Trout. He m. Mary Graves. Children:
- Benjamin H. b. 1776 SC
- James b. 1785 GA
- Gideon H. b. 1790 GA
- William F. b. 1791 SC
- Susannah b. 1800 SC
- Sarah B. b. 1802 SC
- Didomay b. 1809 SC
- Robert Wiley b. 1812 GA
Another Ancestral File reference shows that Gideon H. Troup died in 1854 and married Elizabeth in 1809. (no children listed) I don't know where they got 1854 as date of death (no resources are listed). I have but to assume that Gideon died in Cobb Co., since he was there in 1850. Cobb was taken from Cherokee, so I looked at those records to see if by chance an estate exists for Gideon. A deed or estate record is what I was searching for in order to prove Gideon's children. It looks like his children were: Lorenzo b. 1810, Joseph b. ca 1812/14, Giles b. 1814, O. H. b. 1820, and Benjamin b. 1823. All of the above ages fit Gideon's children of the 1830 Hall Co. Census.
