TAYLOR of Monroe County, Georgia



Job Taylor was born in Virginia and came to Georgia with his brothers, George and Robert. In 1824 he settled in Monroe County, a few miles east of Forsyth. He was known as the largest land-owner in the county, having 10,000 acres in Monroe and adjoining counties, as well as 30,000 acres of land in Alabama. He married Miss Mary Warthen of Washington County when she was only sixteen years old, who became blind in her latter years, dying in 1880, aged 82 years of age. Job Taylor, Sr. died in 1856, Monroe Co., his LWT dated 2/2/1854, probated 3/3/1856, wherein he named his three youngest children: Eaton, Elijah and Rebecca. Other children named were: Benjamin F. and William W. Also, named a son-in-law, Charles F. Carden, and his sister, Mary Douglas. Children:
