Tatom of Wilkes County



John Tatom, Sr. resided in Wilkes Co, Georgia. Wilkes Inventories, etc., p. 61 (1794-1798) John Tatom, deceased, Sale of Estate 1 January 1795. Purchasers from the items of the estate were: John, Abner, Abel and William Tatom, Jarard Groce, Edward Gresham, Napier Adams, Thomas C. Russell, Thomas and John Fullilove and James Hester. (signed: Abel Tatom) The LWT of John Tatom, Sr. was dated 21 Mar 1793, probated 8 Oct 1794, Wilkes Co., named wife, Sarah, and specified for the estate to be divided into nine parts. Mentions that some of his children were in North Carolina. A receipt given from Robert Crocker "for part of the legacy of Barnett Tatom of York Co., S. C." was dated 18 Nov 1797, signed in Lincoln Co., Ga. Another receipt dated 1800 from Barnard Tatom and John N. Newby "for part of their legacies". Returns dated Mar 1802 paid Benjamin Taylor in part for the legacy "of his wife, Susannah Fullilove" and John Taylor in part for his legacy for his wife, Temperance Fullilove.
