Strickland of Franklin & Madison Counties


Jacob Strickland, Revolutionary War Soldier, served on the North Caroline Line, was born 1741 in North Carolina. He died in Franklin County, Georgia in 1804, having received bounty lands for his services there in 1784. He settled,along with his brothers, Henry, Isaac and Solomon Strickland of North Carolina, on Comfort Creek. He married Priscilla Young in Guilford County, North Carolina in 1765. The deed of Jacob Strickland dated 1801 shows a plat of the land which he drew, 287 1/2 Acres in Franklin County. Issue:


Another family, Tolbert Strickland, his LWT dated 8 August 1828, probated 12 September 1828 in Madison County. His mother was mentioned. Also, brothers: Hardy (married Also Williams on 18 December 1823 in Madison County) and Jacob (married Eliza Strickland on 22 December 1825 in Madison County). Nephews: Hardy Thurmond Sanders (married Mary Ware on 2 May 1832 in Madison County), Tolbert Strickland, and John Tolbert Eberhart. Nieces: Lucy Tolbert Stamps, Louisa W. Stamps, Eliza Sanders, Sally Ann E. Sanders, and Mary W. Sanders. Another family, Richard Strickland was born 1783 in North Carolina, Miller. Wife, Lucretia, was born 1786 in Virginia. Issue:

I. Bennet P. Strickland, born 1825 Georgia, farmer.
