STOCKS of Greene County, Georgia
Isaac Stocks, Revolutionary War Soldier, born 1767, died April 1796, Greene Co., Ga., his LWT dated 25 March 1796,probated 4 April 1796. (Greene County Wills 1794-1810, page 5). In 1773, he settyled on lands ceded by the Indians in what became known as Wilkes County. In 1784, he settled in Washington County, on lands which later became Greene ounty. He married (1) Catherine Heard, a daughter of General Heard and his wife, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick. He married (2) Mary Beasey, the daughter of James Veasey.
Issue:
- Thomas Stocks, Judge, was born 1789, in a fort located near the Oconee River, below Scullshoals. Thomas and his mother attended the Old Shiloh Baptist Church, nea5r Penfield. He married (1) Cynthia Coffee, daughter of General Coffee of the War of 1812, and (2) Frances A. Davis on 26 November 1848 in Greene County, daughter of Samuel Davis. The family was listed on 1830-1850 Greene County Census, along with Frances A.S tocks, age 30 (female). Thomas Stocks died at his home in Oak Hill.
- John Stocks was born ca 1780, married Nancy Fitzpatrick.
- William Stocks. There are two entries for the marriage of William Stocks, both in Morgan County. One, William Stocks to Frances Gardner 18 June 1816; and two, William Stocks to Martha Gardner, 18 December 1817. William was listed on the 1830 Morgan County Census.
- Elizabeth (Betsy) Stocks married Aaron Bledsoe on 31 July 1808 in Greene County.
