Sparks of Cedar Valley
The Sparks family settled in Cedar Valley in Paulding County before the Cherokeers were removed. Martin Peebles Sparks was born 18 Jul 1786 and died 8 June 1837 in Paulding County. He was married on 2 Dec 1810 to Elizabeth Whatley. His son, Martin Sparks removed to Polk County ca 1840. Martin Jr. was the former sheriff of Morgan County, also elected to the Georgia Legislature. He was a man of considerable means a fine character. When he died, his only heir was his son, Thomas Sparks. Later, about 1860, Thomas sold the farm to M. H. Bunn.

Martin Sparks arrived in Cedartown ca 1840 and built this home on Cave Spring Road. Later, he willed it to his son, Thomas Sparks who sold it to M. H. Bunn. It survived the War Between the States, but burned down in 1925.
