LARKIN SMITH of Oglethorpe County


Larkin Smith, Revolutionary War Soldier, was b. 1760 in Virginia, d. 10-20-1834, Oglethorpe Co., Ga. He received a pension for his services as private in Capt. James Baytops Co., Col. Heths Va. Regt. He m. Avey Bradley (1767-1807).

Charles Smith d. 1834 in Coweta Co., Ga., m. Elizabeth Hardeman, a sister of Thomas Hardeman. His Will dated 10/1/1834 Coweta Co. He named sister-in-law, the wife of Harrison Smith. To: the wife of Miles Smith. To: Isham Smith. To his wife's brother, Thomas Hardeman. To George T. Glass (Miles Smith's wife's share).

SAMUEL SMITH of Oglethorpe County


Samuel Smith married Mary or Harriet Hyman, the daughter of John Hyman, per his Will dated 11/18/1813 Warren County, Georgia.

Page 74, Book B, 1/5/1795, William Smith of Washington County to James McCormick, William Smith obtained a grant for 200 acres 1/7/1786, where McClains Branch runs into Brier Creek, sold for 30 pounds. Wit: Hardy Smith and Samuel Smith.

ROBERT SMITH of Oglethorpe County


Robert Smith was born 1749 in Cumberland County, Virginia, m. 5-20-1763 in Cumberland Co., Elizabeth James. Revolutionary War Soldier.

Southern Recorder 1/6/1835: "Robert Smith died at his residence in Oglethorpe County 9th ult., age 85 years, 10 months, 2 days. H e was a native of Cumberland County, Virginia."

Southern Recorder 1/6/1835: "James Smith died at his residence in Haywood County, Tennessee...Rev. James Smith was a son of Robert Smith, Revolutionary War Soldier."

Robert Smith drew in the 1827 Georgia Land Lowery, a resident cf Oglethorpe County. He was granted land in Lee and Muscogee Counties 1836.
Fayette Co. Deed, Book A, Page 53, 5/11/1822 John S. Smith of Oglethorpe County to Norris Lyon for 8100, Lot 48, 201 1/2 acres from land lottery, being in 6th District.

The Christian Index dated Oct. 5, 1854, "Robert Smith born 1819, died 9/3/1854 in Oglethorpe County."

The Christian Index dated 7/31/1863, "Lura F. Smith died 7/16/1863 Oglethorpe County, aged 14 months. "

The Christian Index dated 7/13/1848: "John C. Smith, 27 years, died 6/19/1848 Oglethorpe County."

The Southern Recorder 5/26/1840: "Clinton, Georgia General Daniel Newnan Smith married to Mary S. Griswold, the daughter of Samuel Griswold."

The Southern Recorder 2/13/1844, "February Ist, J. H. Echols was married to Martha, the daughter of Robert S. Smith."

Southern Christian Advocate, "Mrs. Margaret Smith, age 37, died 6/30/1842 in Oglethorpe County."
