DAVID SMITH SR. of Jasper County
Revolutionary War Soldier, drew in the 1820 Georgia Land Lottery, land in Appling County; granted 1825 and land in Rabun County; granted 1836. David Smith was b. In S. C., ca 1760, d. Walton Co., Ga. 3-27-1822. He m. 1783 Rebecca Lindley. During the American Revolution, he was a resident of S. C., serving as a Private in the S. C. Militia under Capt. Robert Mansfield, Capt. Lawrence, Col. Pickens. For his services received bounty land in Georgia.
