ALEXANDER SMITH

This Alexander Smith appears to be the son of Captain John Smith of
Wilkes County, Georgia, who lived in that part of Wilkes which later
became Warren County.
Fayette County Deed Book A, Page 46: Mrs. Phoebe Smith widow of
Warren County, deeds to Alexander Smith of Wilkes County, for natural
love and affection, the land which she drew in the late land lottery, being Lot 156 of the 4th District of Fayette, 8/16/1823. Fayette County Deed Book A, Page 407, 9/28/1822, Stephen Smith of Laurens County to Leopard Holland for $200, Lot 27 in the 1st District of Fayette County, recently drawn in the Land Lottery.
Fayette County Deed Book A, Page 395, 2/6/1826, Stephen Smith to
Alexander Smith of Fayette County for $600, Lot 164 in the 4th District of Fayette County, originally Henry County.

- Alexander Smith, (1788-12/1849), buried Smith Cemetery, Fayette Co., alongside wife,Patience. He was listed on the 1830 Fayette County Census, married Patience Cobb.
2/14/1832 in Fayette County. His Will dated 6/20/1849, probated 3/4/1850, names his wife, Patience, "With whom I have lived for seventeen years." He also names his brothers, James and Stephen Smith, and sisters, Bethie Rogers and Mary Travis, the wife of Howard Travis, and Mary Mathews.
- Stephen Smith (4/9/1792-9/8/1848), buried in the Smith Cemetery, Fayette Co., Ga. His Will dated 2/7/1842, probated 3/1849 Fayette County,names his only son, John A. Smith and granddaughter, Mary Arsenia Thomas and Juda and Abner Rogers' children. Listed on 1830 Fayette County Census.
- Bethie Smith, born about 1805, married 1/9/1825 Abner Rogers in
Warren County, Georgia.
- Mary Smith married Harbard or Howard Travis.
- James Smith.
- Mary Smith married Mr. Mathews.
