ROBERT SMITH
Revolutionary War Soldier, son of Hughy Smith, was b. 2/20/1760 in Ireland, travelled onboard ship from Ireland to Virginia.
During the war, he enlisted Fairfield Co., S. C., d. Butts Co., Ga. 6/19/1853. He resided near Winnsboro in Fairfield Dist., S. C., but during the Revolutionary War, lived in Charleston.
Wife, Ferguson Wilson applied for pension 1852, Butts Co., aged 92, stating they moved to Butts Co. in 1827 and she married Robert Smith 6/1780 near Winnsboro, S. C. History of Butts County, Georgia states that Robert Smith was b. in Ireland 2/20/1760, son of Hugh Smith, married Ferguson Wilson 6/1785 of Fairfield Dist., she being b. 11/1/1767 on shipboard in passage from Ireland to America. Ferguson d. 6/19/1853, aged abt 100 years in Butts Co. Nine of their children
are listed in Bible which Robert Smith brought from Ireland (follows). Robert's brother, William (see above deed), was aged 85 in 1858, Chambers Co. Ala., b. Ireland m. Elizabeth Wilson, sister of Ferguson, 6 yrs. younger. Also, a brother named David.

Hugh A. Smith, born Nov. 27, 1787. Made guardian 6 his sister, Elizabeth Torbet's children in 1829. He died before 1850.
Elizabeth Smith, born 7/4/1789, died 2/6/1858, married in S. C. Francis James Torbet.
