Richard Smith of Houston County

Richard Smith was b. 1781, listed on 1805 Georgia Land Lottery as a resident of Houston Co. His LWT dated 1/25/1826 probated 3/6/1826 Houston Co., named his wife, Mourning Elizabeth and their children. Richard was listed on 1805 Burke County Georgia Land Lottery a resident of Houston County. Unfortunately, all of the Houston County records were lost in a court house fire.

From The Southern Recorder published 2/21/1826: "Monday, 30th, at his residence in Houston County, Richard Smith died, age 45 years, formerly of Burke Co., Georgia, but for the past fourteen years a resident of Twiggs County, leaving a widow and three grown children."

• Susan Caroline Smith. Published in The Georgia Messenger 10/18/1828, "Caroline Smith of Houston County married Oct. 3, 1828 Major Robert A. Bealle of Marion Co., Georgia, the daughter of the late Richard Smith."
• Sidney Smith, listed on 1830 Marion Co., Ga. Census and 1850 Monroe Co. Census. He m. Celia M. Taylor 4/19/1849 in Jefferson Co., Ga.
• Etheldred Smith m. Sarah Oliphant 10/18/1838 in Jefferson Co., Ga. Dred Smith was b. 1803 in Houston Co., Ga. And was listed on the 1850 Conecuh Co., Alabama Census. He m. Roda b. 1813 N. C. Issue:

3. Cordena b. 1837 Alabama.
4. Ransom b. 1841 Alabama, served in the Civil War.
5. Mary b. 1842 Alabama.

9. Nancy b. 1848 Alabama
