Shelverton of Cobb County

William E. Shelverton was born 1827 in England and was a locomotive engineer in Washington, Georgia. He was married to Catherine, born 1830 in England. Issue:

• Walter E. Shelverton, born 1856 in Wilkes County, Georgia, clerk in store.
• Charles J. Shelverton, born 1868 in Wilkes County, removed to Austell, Georgia where he became one of the first mayors. He was married on 12/13/1888 in Fulton County to Fannie E. Dobbs.

Charles Shelverton home was located on Spring Street in Marietta (burned 1979).
