John (Jack) Sheffield was born December 13, 1728 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, died December 18, 1790 Duplin County, North Carolina. His LWT was dated 1791, Duplin County, North Carolina, name spelled "Shuffield". He married Elizabeth West. Issue: Ephraim (1755 Duplin Co., North Carolina - June 22, 1835 Todd Co., Kentucky), Wright (1758 Duplin Co., North Carolina-1854 Madison County, Florida), Nancy, Louise, Grady, Polly, Catherine, Tabitha, Bryant, William, Arthur, Nancy, Isham S. (1760 Duplin Co., N. C.-1827 Early Co., Ga. and West.

West Sheffield was a son of John Sheffield, Revolutionary War Soldier of North Carolina, and his wife, Elizabeth Grady. West was born, probably in Moore County, North Carolina in on December 13, 1747 Duplin County, North Carolina and died in Wayne County, Georgia on September 22, 1830. He served as a Private from St. George's Parish (now Wayne County) with the Georgia Troops,and received bounty land and for his services. He married 1st, Susanna Sherrard (born 1752), and 2nd, Elizabeth (born 1765), in 1803. Issue:

Bryant Sheffield, born November 22, 1784, died February 6, 1855, White Springs, Hamilton County, Florida, buried White Springs Cemetery. He married Elizabeth Ogden, born 1804, died 1887.
