SEARCY of Monroe County, Georgia
John Searcy left his LWT dated 1787, in Granville County, North Carolina. He named children, viz: John, William, Bartlett, Elizabeth and Richard. William Searcy came to Georgia between 1770 and 1780. He was a school teacher and planter. His father reared three sons in North Carolina. One son removed to Tennessee, one remained in North Carolina, and William removed to Georgia. William died in Talbot County at the age of 97 years where he owned large tracts of land. Issue:
- John Searcy, baptist preacher, married Charlotta Mabury on December 28, 1836 in Talbot County.
- William Searcy, planter.
- Daniel B. Searcy, physician married Camilla J. Thweatt in 1833. Camilla was born 1816. His LWT dated 2/2/1884, probated 9/7/1885 Monroe County. Daniel graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical College in Philadelphia. He practised medicine in the southern part of Monroe County. The LWT of Camilla J. Searcy dated 2/2/1885 probated 1/4/1888 names grandchildren: A. Fluellen Holt and William D. Davis. Issue:
- James T. Searcy lived in Monroe County all of his life. He was born January 13, 1834, and became a planter at Bolingbroke. He was educated at Emory College, Oxford, graduated from there in 1854. Early in the war he enlisted in Company D, 45th Georgia Regt, and was made Second Lieutenant, promoted to First Lieutenant. He was in the Seven Days' Battle around Richmond, Virginia, but was sent home due to sickness. Afterwards, he served in the Georgia Militia. He married Miss Sarah V., daughter of John H. and Elizabeth (Redding) Greene in Monroe County, on August 21, 1854. Issue:

- Annie Searcy married Albert Harries, of Meriwether County.

- W. E. H. Searcy, resided Griffin.
- E. H. Searcy.
- Carrie Searcy married B. F. Davis. After he died she married L. O. Hollis.
- S. C. Searcy married Mr. Hollis.
- Fannie Searcy m. A. T. Hold, resided Macon.
