Joshua Rountree, son of John Rountree, married Zilpha Durden (born 16 November 1784, died after 1860 in Emanuel County), the daughter of Jacob Durden, a Revolutionary War Soldier and his wife, Mollie (Hilliard) Durden, and the granddaughter of Captain John Durden, Sr., also a Revolutionary War Soldier. Joshua was a native of North Carolina whose home was on the Tar River where he lived and died.[1] Zilpha was listed on the 1860 Emanuel County Census, Swainsboro, aged 73, born in North Carolina, with daughter, Sarah, age 57.

Know all men by these presents that I, Joshua Rountree of the county and State aforesaid, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have for my beloved daughter, Sarah Rountree, do give unto my said daughter my Negro girl who is now about 8 years of Age by the name of Hanner. Date: 6 April 1846.
On 14 October 1858, Manning Rountree, administrator of the estate of Joshua Rountree, late of Emanuel County, deceased, published his notice to sell property of the estate, said tract being sold to I. M. Sutton and Rowan Warren.[2] Issue:
John Rountree, born 24 July 1809, died 6 September 1858, married (1) Nancy Kent and (2) Nancy Brown (born 6 April 1812, died 8 February 1863). During the December Term of 1858, James Rountree prayed to be appointed administrator of the estate of John Rountree, deceased and bond was set at $18,000.00. "James Rountree prays to be appoiinted guardian of person and property of Julia, Nancy, America and John J., orphans of John Rountree, deceased." June Term 1860.[3] Issue:

James Rountree, born 16 April 1834 in Emanuel County, died 15 September 1914. He married Lavenia M. C. Lane (born 5 February 1844, died 18 March 1917). They were buried in the Twin City Cemetery on Hwy 192, in Swainsboro.
