REDDING of Monroe County, Georgia
William Redding, Sr. was born 1736 in Virginia. He served in the Virginia Troops during the American Revolution, receiving bounty grants in Georgia in 1785. He married Patsy Parham. He died in Georgia in 1822, his LWT dated 1/19/1820, probated 10/28/1822, Baldwin
County. He named his sons, Arthur and Anderson Redding. Grandchildren (children of son, Charles); Archer, Patsey, Ezekiel, Rebecca, John, Sally and Parham. Issue:
- Charles Redding was born 1756 in Virginia, died 1815 in Georgia married Edith, also a Revolutionary War Soldier. Issue:
- Ezekiel Redding married Winnie Scurlock on September 29, 1814, Baldwin Co.
- Parham Redding married Amy Jackson on September 20, 1821, Baldwin County.

- Rebecca Redding.
- John Redding.
- Sally Redding.
- Arthur Redding married Frances Wynne.
- Anderson Redding, was born 1764 in Virginia, died 1845 in Georgia, married Delilah Parham. He was a captain in the patriot army during the Revolutionary War and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis in Yorktown. In 1782, he removed from Virginia to Georgia and settled on land which later became Baldwin County. Later, he removed to Monroe County, where he died. Issue:
- Thomas Redding, farmer, was born in 1792, married in Baldwin County to Mariah Searcy (b. 1804 Georgia) in Baldwin County on December 18, 1822, settling on the Ocmulgee River, near Pope's Ferry. He had nine children. Thomas Redding died in 1877, his LWT dated 1/8/1877 in Monroe County, naming his children, viz:Daniel S., William A. (deceased), James M. (deceased), Thomas J., Mary E. Daugherty,
Sallie M. Mays, Martha A. Hill. Grandchildren: William A., Zachariah,
Nora Chambless, Thomas, Edmund, James, Virginia L., Mary C. Redding, Sallie Hill, John Hill. Great-grandchildren: Miss Willie Yates, daughter of granddaughter, Mariah Alexander. Issue:

- James M. Redding, killed at Griswoldsville, Ga. His LWT dated 9/12/1863, probated 1/4/1865,

- Thomas A. Redding, killed at Jonesboro, Ga.
- Charles Redding, Capt. of Floyd Rifles in Macon. Killed at Gettysburg during the famous Pickett's Charge.
- Mary E. Redding married Thomas Dougherty, Macon.
- Daniel S. Redding, Capt., planter, Juliette, Monroe Co., born July 5, 1832 in Monroe Co. He enlisted in Capt. J. H. White's Co. in March of 1862, which became Co. D., 45th Ga. Regt; made Sergeant. Capt. Redding married in 1859 to Miss Clara P. Blanton of Spalding
County, a graduate of the Female College of Griffin (1860). They lived on a 500-acre plantation nine miles east of Forysth. Clara died in 1885, and Capt. Redding married again, in Jones County, December 4, 1888, to Miss Addie J., the daughter of J. C. and Addie C. White. Her grandfather was James White who migrated from Virginia to Georgia and lived in Meriwether County, died at the age of 48 years
in Jones County.
They had nine children, viz:

Alice Redding married Redding Howard;

Arthur T. Redding;

Sallie M. Redding, b. 1839 Georgia, married 1st, Capt. Joseph H. White who was killed at Manassas, married
2nd, Mr. Mays.
- John M. Redding, b. 1842 Georgia, member of Capt. Redding's Co., killed at Battle of
the Wilderness.
- Martha A. Redding married William F. Hill on April 4, 1836, Monroe County.
