Power of Cobb County, Georgia
John Power and his wife, Sarah (Woodall) Power resided in Laurens County, South Carolina. Their known issue as follows:
- Nancy Power, born 4/21/1777 Laurens Co.
- John Power, born 11/17/1778 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 10/4/1809 in Laurens Co.
- Joseph Power, born 3/6/1780 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 6/10/1875 in Cobb County, Georgia. He served with the South Carolina
Militia during the War of 1812. Joseph was married to Isabella Ballew (born in South Carolina. They first established a home in Franklin
County, Georgia about 1816, removing to DeKalb County in 1827. In 1834, Joseph and Isabella were divorded in DeKalb County. Isabella died 1848 in Cobb County. The family had settled in the Mount Bethel Community about 1839. In 1857 Joseph married again, the widow, Nancy Martin. Joseph and his first wife, Isabella, were buried in the Power-Martin Family Cemetery in Mount Bethel Community, Cobb County. The second wife, Nancy, was buried in the Springs Methodist Church Cemetery, in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
- Samuel Power, born 8/7/1781 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 9/5/1829 in Cobb County, Georgia.
- Thomas Power, born 4/2/1785 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 1/18/1852.
- Margaret Power, born 7/26/1786 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 1/20/1832.
- Ellen Power, born 1/31/1788 in Laurens County, South Carolina.
- James Power, born 4/15/1790 in Laurens County, South Carolina, died 12/16/1870 in Cobb County, Georgia, buried in the Paper Mill Road Cemetery. It was James Power who owned and operated Power's Ferry on the Chattahoochee River (near Interstate 285).
