William E. Potts was born 1790 (or 1793) Georgia, farmer, died 9 May 1872. He married Sarah Wilson (born 1801 Georgia, died 22 May 1883), on 8 October 1816. Issue:
- James Edmonson Potts was born 31 October 1817, died 1863 in Kentucky. His pension records (Confederate) show his death as 15 October 1862 in Frankfort, Kentucky.
- Serena Minervia Potts was born 15 October 1819.
- Jane Adaline Potts was born 17 September 1821.
- Jenkins Potts was born 3 November 1824, killed at Micanopy, Florida on 9 February 1865. He married (1) Emily Massey (born 27 November 1826, died 15 August 1853) on 1 March 1844. He married (2) to Rebecca C. Cameron 19 November 1855 in Troup County. Issue:

- Martha V. Potts was born 24 October 1848.
- Mary Wallas Potts was born 23 June 1850.
