JOEL PHILLIPS m. Elizabeth. He d. 10/1792 Wilkes Co., Ga. when appraisal of his estate was taken by Elizabeth and William Phillips, admrs. Lived on Little River In Wilkes Co., Ga., was in the Battle of Kettle Creek during the Revolutionary War. In 1784 and 1785 received three bounty grants of 250 acres; 950 acres in Wilkes Co. 2/2/1784 he petitioned for 575 acres in Washington Co., Ga. on account of he was a Minute Man during the War. In the LWT of Elizabeth Phillips. proved 3/1516, Wilkes Co., Ga., she mentions the heirs of "my deceased son, Joel Phillips, Jr."

  7. JOEL PHILLIPS, JR. d. 1807 Morgan Co., Ga. Admrs. of his estate 9/24/1807, his brother, Whitmell Phillips and his widow, Charity Phillips, applied in Baldwin Co., Ga. Joel Phillips, Jr. owned land in Morgan, Clarke and Wilkinson Co.'s, Ga. His widow, Charity, removed to Bibb Co., Ala. as early as 1819. Later, she removed to Coosa Co., Ala. with her sons, Hawkins, Hiram and James. Children of Joel Phillips, Jr.:
    1. Hawkins Phillips. Lived Carroll Co., Ga., later Coosa Co., A1a. About 1845 he removed to Leake Co., Miss., buried in Phillips Family Cemetery. He m. E1lender of Ga. Children:
      i. Telitha Phillips m. Elijah Edwards in Alabama. Lived in Miss. Both buried in above Phillips Cemetery.
      ii. Joel Phillips m. Mary and had 9 children. They lived Coosa Co., Ala.
      iii. Hiram Phillips m. Martha Burgess of Coosa Co., Ala. Removed to Leake Co., Miss. Both buried Phillips Cemetery.
      iv. Charity Phillips m. Mr. Brantley, lived Ala.
      v. James Phillips m. Clarinda Whitehead in Carroll Co., Ga. Removed to Leake Co., Miss.
      vi. Polly Phillips.
      vii. Reuben Phillips m. Telitha. Lived Coosa Co., Ala.
      viii. Whitmel Phillips m. (1) Elizabeth Burgess, (2) Elizabeth Crawford. Lived Coosa Co., Ala.
      ix. Lena Phillips m. William W. Thomas in Coosa Co., A1a. Removed to Leake Co., Miss. Buried in Phillips Cemetery.
      x. Frances Marion Phillips m. Elizabeth Livingston in Miss. Lived in Nesboba and Newton Co.'s, Miss. had 11 children.

    Reuben Phillips

    REUBEN PHILLIPS b. ca 1715 in Maryland m. Catherine, a Welsh lady. They lived in Cecil Co., Md. until 1753, then removed to Frederick Co., Md. where they remained until 1769 when they removed to Rowan Co., N. C. Here, their sons were Revolutionary Soldiers. In 1786, Reuben removed to Wilkes Co., Ga.; about ten Years later to Oglethorpe Co., Ga. where he must have died about 1800. Issue:

    1. CATHERINE PHILLIPS m. Mr. Long in Rowan Co., N. C.
    2. JOHN PHILLIPS b. ca 1740 m. Margaret McCreadon of Lancaster Co., Pa., d. 1833 Christian Co., Ky.
    3. WILLIAM PHILLIPS b. ca 1749 moved to Blount Co., Tenn., then Overton Co., Tenn.
    4. LEVI PHILLIPS was born 1746 in Virginia and died 21 Feb 1847 in Carroll County, Georgia. He moved with his father to Oglethorpe Co., Ga. where he is on Tax List in 1794 and 1800 Census. Wife, Malissa. Levi served as a private during the Revolutionary War, enlisting from Leesburg, Virginia. He was in the battles of Treuton, Brandywine, Monmouth and Hanging Rock. After the war ended, he settled at Polks Mill in Madison County, Georgia and resided there until about 1818 when that part of the county became known as Elbert County. Issue:
      1. Levi Phillips, born 1785, married twice.
      2. William? Phillips, born 1787.
      3. James Phillips, born 1789, married Sara McIntyre.
      4. Fannie Phillips, born 1793 married Calvin Harrison.
      5. Sara Phillips, born 1795, married William Kerr.
      6. Barbara Phillips, born 1797, married Joel Kelly.
      7. Malinda Phillips, born 1798, married Richard Fuller.
      8. Nancy Phillips, born 1800, married Charles Arenton.
      9. Malissa Elizabeth Phillips, born 1802, married Ezekiel Polk on 14 Jul 1804 in Oglethorpe County.
      10. Polly Phillips, born 1806, married Daniel Broome.
      11. George Washington Phillips, born 1810, married Arie Abbott.
    5. REUBEN PHII.LIPS, JR. m. Judith, removed to Wilkes Co., N. C. where he d. 1813.
    6. JESSE PHILLIPS m. Elizabeth, moved to Tenn.
    7. JONAS PHILLIPS m. 1778 Rowan Co., N. C. Gurly Phirlabee.
    8. ADAM PHILLIPS b. 1762 Frederick Co., Md., moved first to Mecklenburg, then to Buncombe Co., N. C. Wife, Hannah Bailey. Adam d. 1858 Buncombe Co., N. C. Issue:
      1. Eli A. Phillips b. 1784, d. ca 1880 Cherokee Co, Ga. Children:
        1. Reuben Frank Phillips b. 1820 Buncombe Co., N. C. m. in Ga., Nancy Burtz; they had seven children before her death in 1866. He m. 2nd, Catherine Salt of Cherokee Co., Ga. and bad three more children.
        2. Wesley Pharr Phillips b. 1854 Orange, Cherokee Co., Ga., went to school near Corinth, Miss. and m. there Kate Bradshaw. They moved to Texas and had six children. One was John Richard Phillips 1891-1977.
        3. Elizabeth Phillips b. 1791-d. Buncombe Co., N. C.
        4. Elisha Phillips b. ca 1793-d. Haywood Co., N. C.
        5. Reuben Phillips b. 1795, removed to Habersham Co., Ga., then Ala. where he d. in 1887.
        6. Mary Ann Phillips m. Joseph W. Pharr, removed to Cherokee Co., Ga.
        7. Catherine Phillips m. 1st, Parks, 2nd, Bell, d. Buncombe Co., N. C.
        8. Hiram Phillips b. 1803 m. Nancy Vaughn of Clarksville, Ga.
