Levi Peacock was born 1756 in what is now the northwestern corner of Wayne Co., N. C., and was probably the son of Samuel Peacock, Jr. (b. ca 1730, d. 1814) and Amy. Levi shared the administration of the Estate of Samuel Peacock, Jr., along with John Peacock (1766-1848), according to a notice in the Georgia Journal dated 6/8/1814. John Peacock is known to be a son of Samuel and Amy Peacock from family bible records. From the testimony in the 1832 application of Uriah Peacock (1758-1846) for a Revolutionary soldier's pension, it has been established that he was a brother of both John and Archibald (1762-1845). Archibald also took part in the administration of Samuel's estate, according to Georgia Journal's notice dated 6/5/1816. William Peacock was also involved in this administration according to a notice 8/12/1817 in the same paper.
According to History of North Carolina Baptists by George Washington Paschal, on page 465 in a footnote, he reports that Levi's grandfather was Samuel Peacock, Sr. (B. Ca 1705-d. 1793), and that he has been a prominent member of Bear Creek Baptist Church at the time of the Revolutionary War. It was Samuel Peacock, Sr. who lived on the Meherrin River in what is now Northampton Co. Between 1720 and 1742, and who built Peacock's Bridge on Great Contentnea Creek near the present town of Stantonsburg in 1751. Isham Peacock (1742-1850), a son of Samuel, Sr., was a prominent Baptist Minister. Uriah Peacock was a member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church in Washington Co., Ga.
10/25/1782 William Watkins received a land grant for 300 acres on the north side of the Great Swamp "bounded by Samuel Peacock and Leavy Peacock." Samuel Peacock, Sr. and Jr. both had large holdings in this area.
Levi Peacock served in the Revolution as a soldier in the Wayne Co., N. C. Militia. A voucher issued 12/1783 (No. 2034) at the N. C. State Archives, authorizes payment of 16 pds, 15 shs for militia duty during the war (Book VI, page 48, folio 1, State Comptroller's Office).

In an old letter, also in possession of the Mississippi Peacocks, written in 1848, John Thomas Peacock's twice-remarried widow, Hannah Howard, to her son Lovic P. In Mississippi, it mentions a recent Methodist gathering in Madison, Ga., where she was living at the time. Hannah Peacock Howard was born a Collingsworth.
