ORME OF PENNSYLVANIA, MARYLAND AND GEORGIA

Rev. John Orme, V. D. M., a son of Moses Orme of Derbyshire, England, was born 1/21/1691 in Wiltshire, England. On September 26, 1720 he was sent to the Presbyterian Synod in Philadelphia by the London ministers and ultimately settled at Marlboro on the Patuxent in Prince George County, Maryland. He was married by Rev. Hugh Connon 3/14/1720 to Ruth Edmondston (born 9/22/1705), a daughter of Colonel Archibald Edmonston and his wife, Jane Beall of Calvert County, Maryland, a daughter of Colonel Ninian and Ruth (Moore) Beall of Prince George County. Jane Orme, born 10/25/1734, died 5/1805 in Shepherdstown, Virginia, married Rev. Joseph Threekeld (born Penrith, England 1731).
Elizabeth Orme, twin, born 9/14/1737.
Mary Orme, twin, born 9/14/1737, buried at Marlboro in Prince George County, Maryland.
Septima Orme married Mr. Allen.
Octavia Orme 4/9/1743-11/23/1824, married William Smith.
Ebenezer Orme, born 9/13/1745, died unmarried. Archibald Orme (above) 6/1/1730-5/9/1812, died in Georgetown, D. C. He was a tobacco planter in Montgomery County, Maryland and during the Revolutionary War was a Colonel who commanded a regiment. He was married to Elizabeth Johns (1734-5-ca 1808) in Montgomery County, Maryland, daughter of Richard and Margaret (Crabbe) Johns of Calvert County, Maryland. Samuel Boone of the famous Boone family of Kentucky purchased Archibald and Elizabeth Ormes Montrose. plantation on 4/18/1770 in Frederick County, Maryland. Later, on 11/21/1770 Samuel Boone was sued along with Archibald Orme and Zephaniah Bealle by Ninean Beale. Issue:

Margaret Orme, born ca 1758-9, married Walter Magruder of Montgomery Co., Maryland (born 6/15/1760), son of Nathaniel Magruder.
Thomas Orme, born ca 1759-60, unmarried.
John Orme, born 9/21/1763, removed from Prince George County, Maryland to Savannah, Georgia where he died on 3/13/1824. He was married to Sarah McAllister (4/28/1765-9/2/1806), a daughter of Colonel Richard McAllister of Hanover, Pennsylvania. Issue:

Aquilla Johns Orme 5/7/1788-7/1/1832, died in Manchester, Clay Co., Kentucky, unmarried.
Eliza McAllister Orme 2/21/1791-8/1820, died in Savannah. She married 1st James G. Henry Osborne on 4/1/1817 and 2nd, Sheldon C. Dunning (died 4/2/1858).
Charlotte Orme 8/31/1793-9/31/1814, died in McIntosh County, Georgia, unmarried.
Archibald Orme, born 12/17/1795 in Montgomery Co., Maryland, died 1/19/1840. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He was a soldier in the War of 1812. On 12/21/1818 he was married to Lucy Priestly, a daughter of William and Margaret (Foulke) Priestly, a son of Dr. Joseph Priestly (1800-1883). Richard Orme married Ann Bennett. Charles Wesley Orme, died in infancy. Francis Hodgson Orme, born 1/6/1834 in Dauphin, Pennsylvania. In 1847 he removed to Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia, and thence to Savannah, Georgia in 1850. On 1/16/1867 he was married to Ellen Vail Woodward of Beaufort District, S. C., the daughter of Alsop Park Vail Woodward of New York and his wife, Elizabeth Catherine (Pope) Woodward. Lewis Heck Orme, born 1/22/1836, unmarried. Aquilla Johns Orme, born 1/22/1838, married Kate Harmon. Margaret Eliza, born 5/2/1840, married J. W. Culpeper. Richard McAllister Orme, born 8/6/1797 in Montgomery County, Maryland, died 3/8/1869 in Milledgeville, Georgia, married 1st in Baldwin Co. Jean Moncure Paine on 2/21/1825 and 2nd on 6/9/1842, Mrs. Abby Ann (Adams) Egerton, widow of Rev. Mr. Egerton. Issue by 1st marriage: John Eclipse Orme 5/11/1827-7/10/1833; Richard McAllister Orme, born 1/21/1829, married Laura Smets on 3/4/1856; Georgia Jean Orme, born 3/27/1831,married Dr. James F. Alexander of Atlanta on 3/31/1855; Margaret Virginia Orme 2/3/1834-3/10/1904 married on 12/10/1856 John Bulow Campbell, son of David Crowell Campbell of Milledgeville, Georgia; Henry Sayre Orme, born 3/25/1837; and Mary Paine Orme 1/21/1839-8/1840. Issue by 2nd wife: Mary Elizabeth Orme, born 2/6/1844, died 8/8/1871 at S. C. Springs,Virginia, married Rev. William Flinn; John Adams Orme, born 12/27/1845; William Archibald Orme, born 1/10/1849; Ann Ripley Orme, born 9/27/1851, married C. P. Crawford; and Edward Dunning Orme, born 2/27/1853.
