Moore
Elijah Moore was born in Maryland. He migrated from Maryland to Georgia in the latter part of 1700s and settled in Baldwin County in 1792, where he died.
John Moore, a son, married in Baldwin County, September 16, 1813 to Miss Nancy Currey of Irish descent. He died in 1870, his LWT dated 7/19/1870, probated 9/26/1870, in Monroe County. Children named were: James C., Edward R., and Elijah M. Moore. They had ten children:
- James C. Moore married Velerid W. Moore April 14, 1836 in Baldwin County.
- Narcissus Moore married David Davis of Stewart Co.
- Mary Moore married Drury M. Davison on March 7, 1839 in Monroe County, removed to Pike County, Alabama.
- Edward R. Moore, planter, of Bossier Parish, Louisiana.
- Benjamin F. Moore, planter, married Mary Ann E. Dewberry on February 24, 1843, Monroe County.
- Jemima Ann Moore married Robert C. C. McGinty on December 17, 1846, Monroe County.
- John C. Moore was born June 15, 1827 in Monroe County. He was killed in the Civil War in the battle of Fredericksburg.
- Elijah M. Moore, born 6 January 1824, died in 1905, his LWT dated 7/13/1905, Monroe Co., naming sons, B. M. and J. M. Moore. He lived his life as a farmer, on the homestead, 1,250 acres, where he was born. In November of 1855, he married Miss Ann, daughter of Duncan and Mary (Holmes) McCowen of Monroe County, and by her had ten children:
- Dodie Moore married J. R. Worsham, of Monroe Co.
- John T. Moore, cotton factor, Macon.
- B. M. Moore, planter, Monroe Co.
- James M. Moore.
- Lelia Moore.
- Annie Moore married J. A. Smith, lived Houston County.
- Alice Moore married D. M. Owen, lived Athens, Tennessee.
- Gussie Moore.
