Mills of Lincoln & Wilkes Counties



Alexander Mills was granted 150 acres of land on Pistol Creek in 1773, having come to Georgia from South Carolina with a wife, 5 sons, and 2 daughters. He made his LWT in Wilkes County dated 1777, naming his wife, Alice and 14 children. In 1792, Alice Mills was in Wilkes County Tax Digest. Between 1798 and 1803, she deeded her land on Pistol Creek to her children, viz: James, William and Sallie. Alice Mills deeded to her son, William Mills, for love and affection, both of Lincoln County, land on Pistol Creek :whereon said Alice Mills has for many years resided, 300 acres, on 27 September 1798. (Lincoln County Deed Book B, page 52-53. Alice Mills of Lincoln County deeded to Salley Mills, for love and affection, 90 acres of land on Pistol Creek, bounded by William Mills, John Fullilove, when surveyed, but now by Thomas C. Russell, John Gamble and vacant land, on 25 April 1800 (Wilkes County Deed Book D, page 253). Issue:[1]
