McKay of Jones and Putnam Counties

Hugh McKay was born 12 March 1764 on Hebrides Island in Scotland, and died 21 May 1839 in Jones County, buried in the McKay Cemetery at Plentitude, Georgia. He was married on 26 June 1822 in Putnam County, Sarah Ann Dixon (born 31 August 1790, died 10 October 1823), the daughter of Nicholas Dixon and his wife, Sarah (Hickman) Dixon. Issue:[1]

  1. Hugh Dixon McKay, born 15 October 1824 in Jones County, died 26 March 1891, buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Macon, Georgia. He married Julia Paul on 11 November 1847 in Jones County.
  2. George Washington Franklin McKay, born 4 July 1828 in Jones County, died 7 September 1901, buried in the McKay Family Cemetery in Plentitude, Georgia. He married Susan Finney on 16 October 1849 in Jones County. Issue:

     1. Henrietta Dixon McKay, born 2 July 1851, died September 1851, buried in the McKay Family Cemetery in Plentitude, Georgia.
     2. Sarah Jane McKay, born 3 April 1852, died 20 March 1854, buried in the McKay Family Cemetery in Plentitude, Georgia.
     3. Alex H. S. McKay, born 17 May 1854 in Jones County, died 28 April 1902, buried in the Forsyth City Cemetery in Monroe County.
     4. Henry Augustus McKay, born 27 October 1856, died 30 April 1843, buried in the McKay Family Cemetery in Plentitude, Georgia.
