Marbut of Edgefield County, South Carolina and DeKalb County, Georgia

Johannes John Marbut, the son of John Marple of the Province of Hanover, Germany, was born July 24, 1756 in Hanover,Germany. He married on April 2, 1787 Miss Sarah Inman (born 1768 in Bush River District, Newberry, South Carolina). They had issue:

• Phillip Marbut.
• Polly Martha Marbut was born February 1, 1791 in Bush River District, Newberry, South Carolina.
• John Marbut was born October 4, 1794 in Bush River District, Newberry, South Carolina.
• Joshua Marbut was born March 26, 1788 in Bush River District, Newberry, South Carolina, died February 27, 1863, buried in the Almand Cemetery, Conyers, Georgia. He married Sarah Longshore, who was born November 12, 1790, died May 12, 1856. Issue:
  1. John Pressley Marbut was born January 20, 1809, died 1880 DeKalb County, Georgia, married Susannah Boozer, born January 7, 1816. His LWT filed in DeKalb Co. WB (1870-1889), p. 126-130. John P. Marbut of advanced age
     Wife: Susan - all my estate To my daughter, Mary I. Marbut - 50 acres in 16th Dist. of DeKalb Co., on E side of Ga Railroad between Gibson F. Blalock and John P. Marbut to the S of the lane near G. H. Weaver, thence S to corner between John P. Marbut, Burrell B. Braswell and Ellen Bosin, thence W to the NW corner of Burrel B. Braswell and W to a stake on line of Ga. Railroad right-of-way.
     To my daughter, Susan C. Bailey - 40 acres off of Lot 273
     Sons: Job J. Marbut and Robert H. Hollingsworth, Exrs. and trustees for Susan C. Bailey and Mary I. Marbut. I hereby order and direct that my Exrs lay off 1/4th of an acre off of Lot No. 134 where the graveyard now is to be bound on the S by the original line and on the W by the right- of-way-of-the Ga. Railroad for a graveyard.
