Marbury of Edgefield County, South Carolina and Georgia

Leonard Marbury was born 1698, lived in Edgefield County, South Carolina before removing to Georgia where he died in 1794.

Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State, 3 May 1794. Died on April 29th last at Capt. Horatio Marbury's on the Kiokos, Mr. Leonard Marbury, Sr., aged 93 years. Survived by three sons, three daughters, and 96 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

• Thomas Marbury. Wilkes Co. Deed of Thomas Marbury of South Carolina to Mr. Flournoy of Augusta, 287 1/2 acres of land in Washington Co. 10 June 1789.
• Horatio Marbury, a resident of Wilkes Co., Ga. in 1786. He was a Grandjuror in Jefferson County in 1797 and drew in the 1805 Land Lottery from Jefferson Co. His wife, Mary Deborah Marbury, made her LWT dated 26 July 1817, Will Book A, p. 128, Jefferson Co., naming her first husband, John Martin, and present husband, Horatio Marbury
• William Marbury drew in the 1805 Jefferson Co., Ga. Land Lottery.

Edgefield Co., S. C. Deeds

Deed Book 2, p. 211-215, 21 Jul 1787, Leonard Marbury of Georgia to John Holson Low for 75 pds., 100 acres in Gran Stevens Creek bounded by Buckhalter and William Buckhalter. Mrs. Ann Marbury, wife of Leonard Marbury, relinquished her dower 9 Jul 1788.

Deed Book 2, p. 215-219. Leonard Marbury and his wife, Ann, of Georgia, deed to Peter Carnes for 400 pds., two tracts of 1300 acres located between the Saluda River and Savannah River, one tract of 1000 acres on Buckhalter's Creek and 300 acres, lately belonging to Thomas Eveleigh.

Deed Book 2, p. 228-229, 26 Sept 1788, Leonard Marbury to Peter Carnes for $500, 1000 acres granted in 1772 to James Parson, land on Cedar Creek.

Deed Book 1, p. 275-9, 26 Feb 1790, Peter Carnes and his wife, Elizabeth of Edgefield Co., S. C. deed to Thomas Marbury of the same place, for 10 pds., 100 acres, being part of 300 acres lately belonging to Thomas Eveleigh of Charleston, S. C., granted in June of 1774 to Edward Couch and conveyed on 7 March 1780 by Nicholaus Eveleigh to Leonard Marbury, late of Georgia, and said Marbury conveyed to Peter Carnes on Burkhalters Creek, a branch of the Savannah River.
