Mann of South Carolina & Newton County

John Mann was born ca 1770, died 1830 in Abbeville, South Carolina, his LWT dated 1 March 1830, probated 21 June 1830, Abbeville County, naming wife, Margaret and children. Issue:[1]

• John Gibson Mann. His estate was administered on 20 November 1848 in Abbeville County, and a bond was posted for $3000 by Dr. Isaac Branch, Benjamin Y. Martin and H. A. Jones. Isaac Branch showeth that John Gibson Mann died intestate leaving a widow. A letter was filed with the probate records. Macon, Georgia, 2 April 1866, To the Probate Judge of Abbeville County, South Carolina. Dear Sir: I hasten to make a request of you the substance of it is as follows. I wish for you to search the records of your office and see if there was any administration made on the estate of John G. Mann and by whom it was administered. See if it was made by one, Dr. Isaac Branc and if so, give me a copy of the record of all the transactions, state what the said property of John G. Mann was apprised of and also what it brought at the administrators sale. Respectfully your Obt. Servant, Mr. S. W. (or L. W.) Bramlet, Macon, Georgia.
  
• William R. Mann, born 1790/1800 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, died May 1850 in Newton County, Georgia. The inventory of his estate was given in Newton County Returns, Vol. 8, page 337, Sale in 1857. Administrator, Moses Mann. Wife, Mrs. Sarah Mann was made guardian of their children, viz: Sarah, Elizabeth and Joanna in 1852. In 1860, three orphans were listed, viz: Permelia A., J. A. and William T. Newton County Returns, Vol. 6, page 71 - received of Moses Mann, administrator of the Estate of William R. Mann, late of Newton County, deceased, $20.68 as principal and interest on the within Note. A. Scott. William Mann had three sons (born 1820/1825) and three daughters (born 1820/1830). Issue:

  3. Joanna Mann.
  4. Permelia A. Mann married James M. Richardson on 20 March 1860 in Newton County.
  5. Allen J. Mann married Susan Witcher on 20 July 1830 in Newton County..

  Moses Mann, born 1803 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, farmer; listed on the 1830 Abbeville County Census and the 1850 Newton County Census. He was executor of the LWT of his father, John Mann, and William R. Mann. Wife, Margaret, born 1797 in South Carolina. Issue:

  1. William Mann, born 1812 in South Carolina.
  2. Sarah Mann, born 1815 South Carolina.

  Gilbert M. Mann, listed on the 1830 Abbeville County Census; his estate was administered on 26 January 1843 in Abbeville County by Robert Mann, John G. Mann and David Robinson.
  

  Robert Mann, born 1805 in Abbeville County, South Carolina, listed on the 1850 Newton County Census, farmer. Wife, Amanda (born 1821 South Carolina). His LWT was dated 19 March 1870 in Newton County Will Book 2, (1851-1871), page 339-340. Issue:

1. Eliza Mann, born 1828 South Carolina.
2. James Lewis Mann, born 1842 South Carolina.
3. Lucretia E. Mann, born 1829 South Carolina, married Columbus Haise.
