Madison of Virginia & Warren County
James Madison, son of John Madison who died 1783 in Botetourt County, Virginia, was a Captain of the sloop Regulator. He served in the House of Representatives from Franklin County in 1786. He was a witness to the Hopewell Treaty with the Cherokee Indians in 1785 on the Keowee River in South Carolina, being one of the sworn interpreters. In 1808 he was scalped by Indians in Warren County. Issue:
- Thomas Jefferson Madison was born 1810 in Georgia, died in Troy, Alabama. He was a resident of Warren County, Georgia in 1820. It is known that he married Charity Hanchey in Georgia. Warren County Marriages and Deaths 1763-1820 by Mary Bondurant Warren. He married (2) Lucinda Rachel Baker on 14 December 1844 in Pike County, Alabama. In 1880, he was residing with his son, James Madison in Pike County, Alabama. Issue:[1]
