Love of Buncombe and Haywood Counties


James Robert Love was born Nov 1798. He was a son of Colonel Robert Love and his wife, Mary (Dillard) Love, who served three terms in the House of Commons as a member from Buncombe County. They settled on Richland Creek, purchasing lands in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. James was sent to Greeneville, Tennessee to complete his education and in 1821 was elected as a member to the House of Commons from Haywood County, later being re-elected in 1822-1827. James Love was married to Maria Williamson Coman of Raleigh. James died 22 Nov 1863 during the Civil War. Issue:

  • Maria Malvine Love married Colonel W. W. Stringfield of Waynesville.
