Southy Littleton Jr. of Monroe County


Southy Littleton, Jr. was born ca 1776, died 1848 Monroe County, Georgia. He was located in Wilkes County, Georgia when, on 7 March 1809 he gave a receipt on the Estate of William Lea. Also, he was appointed guardian of Lindsey, the orphan of Mary Morris in 1808, Wilkes Co.

1830 Monroe Co., Census. There is another LITTLETON, Suther; male (60-70). Other males shown in Suther household are 2 (10-15), and 1 (15-20). I found no death record for Suther LITTLETON in Monroe Co. 1830 Monroe Co., Census, we find William F. male(20-30).

1840 Pike Co., GA. Census, LITTLETON, Southy, His age bracket (30-40).

1850 Pike Co., GA. Census, 8 Oct 1850, LITTLETON, Southey. He gave his age as 42, and his wife Rebecca PITTS gave her age as 38. 1850 Marion Co., AL. Census, 25 Nov 1850, LITTLETON, Southey. He gave his age as 45, and Rebecca gave her age as 42.

1850 Marion Co., AL. Census, LITTLETON, James J.: He gave his age as 26 (1824), however in the three following censuses he gave an age which would have put his birth year at 1827, 1827, and 1826. He is listed 5 dwellings from Southey , listed with his wife Caroline DRAKE, dau. of William DRAKE, son of Epaphroditus DRAKE of Hancock Co. William DRAKE wandered across GA., before leaving Pike Co., to go along with Southey and James to Marion Co., AL. Both Southey LITTLETON and William DRAKE were in Itawamba Co., MS., in time for the 1860 census. William died in MS., but Southey III went back to Marion Co., AL., after the 1870 census.

1860 Hot Spring Co., AR. LITTLETON, James J., wife Caroline and son Benjamin Franklin had migrated to AR. Son Noah was born in AR., in 1854. 1850 Monroe Co., GA Census, LITTLETON, Hamilton: Age 22. 1 Feb 1849, he sold a tract of land in Marion Co., to Southey LITTLETON (of Pike Co.) The land in this transaction was the same legal description as land sold to one Hamilton LITTLETON, at sale by the sheriff ordered by the Superior Court of Monroe Co., on 7 Apr 1829, Marion Co., GA., to satisfy a " file facias" filed by John BUFFINGTON, administrator, against Southy LITTLETON.
