Key of Virginia & Franklin County



Martin Key, the son of John Key of New Kent County, Virginia, was born 1670, and died 1740 in New Kent County, Virginia. He had two known children, viz: Martin Key of King and Queen County, Virginia who died in May of 1757 in Louisa County, Virginia, and John Key, Sr., born 1696, died 1764 in Albemarle County, Virginia. John Key, Sr. married Martha Tandy of South Farnham Parish, Essex County, Virginia, a daughter of Henry Tandy, Jr. and his wife, Priscilla. Their known children were: Martin, Mary, Henry, George, John, Jr., and Henry.

John Key, Jr. was born 1731 and was a resident of Albemarle County, Virginia. He died 1826 in Bedford, Franklin County, Virginia. He was married to Agness Witt on 27 December 1750 in Albemarle County, a daughter of William Witt. Their known children were: Elizabeth, Barbary, Judith, Winnie Candle, George, Joseph, William and John Walter Key.

John Walter Key, Revolutionary War Soldier, was born, presumably in Albemarle County, and died 1828 in Franklin County. He married Virginia (Gennie) Wade. Issue:[1]
