Juhan
The first Juhan to the United States was John James Juhan, born ca 1740, died ca 1804. His wife was Mary Payzant. The couple was known to have two children, viz: Maria Elise Juhan, born 1765 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, died 6/27/1843 in Charleston, South Carolina, buried in the Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery and Stephen Alexander Juhan, born 1765 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, died 8/12/1845 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, buried in the Machpelah Cemetery.
Stephen Juhan was married on 2/29/1792 in the Independant Congregational Circular Church in Charleston County to Elizabeth Martha Bourdeaux (born 3/2/1772 in Charleston, South Carolina, died 9/1/1816). Their children as follows:
- Esther Marie Juhan 5/11/1784-1816 Charleston, South Carolina.
- Daniel Bourdeaux Juhan, born 1796 in Charleston, died 1830/1831 near James Station in Jones County, Georgia
- Nathaniel Bourdeaux Juhan, born 1800 in Charleston, died 1851 in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia.
- Isaac Bourdeaux Juhan, born 6/7/1803 in Charleston, South Carolina.
- Francis Pleasant Juhan, born 6/1805 in South Carolina, died 3/6/1879 in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, buried in the Lawrenceville Cemetery.
- Elizabeth Martha Smith Juhan, born 1810/1813 South Carolina, died 1880. She was listed as a pauper in Gwinnett County, Alms House in Lawrenceville.
Francis Pleasant Juhan (1805-1879)was married in 1828 to Evelina Rebecca Johnson, a daughter of William Johnson and his wife, Catharine M. (Rhodes) Johnson. Evelina was born 1809 in Colleton County, South Carolina, her birth recorded in St. John's Parish Register. She died 10/20/1847 in Gwinnett County. Their children:
- Catherine E. Juhan, born 1827 South Carolina, died in Amarillo, Texas.
- Dora Susan Juhan, born 1841 Gwinnett County, died 1927 in Eden, Texas.
- Oliver Hazard Perry Juhan, born 9/7/1830 in S outh Carolina, died 5/7/1864, during War Between the States, buried on the Whitehall Plantation in Virginia.
- Francis Ferdinand Juhan, born 10/4/1832 Gwinnett County, died 1/31/1913. He was married on 1/21/1866 to Narcissa Elizabeth Ivie in Gwinnett County. The father of Narcissa, William S. Ivey (born 1810 in Virginia), shoemaker, was living with the family in Lawrenceville in 1880.* Francis Juhan was a lawyer by profession. Children: Eveline Juhan, born 1868 Gwinnett County; Isaac B. Juhan, born 1871 Gwinnett County; Oliver R. Juhan, born 1874 Gwinnett County; Mary Emily Juhan, born 9/4/1875 in Gwinnett County, died 12/8/1932 in Lawrenceville, buried in Shadowlawn Cemetery; Sarah M. Juhan, born 1878 Gwinnett County; Annie Juhan, born ca 1880 Gwinnett County; Ivey Juhan, born ca 1881 Gwinnett County and Benjamin A. Juhan, born ca 1883 in Gwinnett County.
- Lewis Alexander Juhan, born 1/1/1836, died Gwinnett County. Wife, Emily C., born 1836 in Georgia.
- Charlotte G. Juhan, born 3/3/1839 Gwinnett County, died Stone Mountain, DeKalb County.
- Dora Susan Juhan, born 1841 Gwinnett County, died 1927 in Eden, Texas.
- William Juhan, born 1843 Gwinnett County, died 1851.
- Oscar Adelbert Juhan, born 10/7/1847 Gwinnett County, died 10/4/1883 in Honey Grove, Lamar County, Texas, buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Fannin County, Texas. Oscar was a resident of Lamar County, Texas in 1880. Wife: Leona, born 1846 in Missouri. Children: Francis Juhan, born 1873 in Lamar County, Texas; Lula E. Juhan, born 1875 in Lamar County, Texas; Otho M. Juhan, born 1878 in Lamar County, Texas; and William O. Juhan, born 1879 in Lamar County, Texas.
Lewis Alexander Juhan, son of Francis Pleasant Juhan (above) and wife, Emily, were residents of the Rock Bridge District and had the following children.
- Francis J. Juhan, born 1859 Gwinnett County. Frank Juhan was married 1888 in DeKalb County to Annie Evans, a daughter of James Oliver Eans and his wife, Frances, of Dekalb County. Children: Andrew Juhan, born 1888; Crawford Juhan, born 1893; Elbert Juhan, born 1894; Hattie Juhan, born 1897 and Ammon Juhan, born 1898 in Gwinnett County.**
- Oliver H. Juhan, born 1866 Gwinnett County.
- Alexander S. Juhan, born 1868 Gwinnett County.
- Lourena Juhan, born 1870 Gwinnett County.
- Florence Juhan, born 1872 Gwinnett County.

Francis Pleasant Juhan family resided in the Rockbridge District of Gwinnett County, Lawrenceville.
