- Stephen James, Jr., born 1821 in Newbern, North Carolina, died 1871 in Campbell County, Georgia. He married in 1840 Martha Shipleigh (born 1820). Issue:
- W. A. James, born 7 May 1847 in Campbell County. He was an attorney in Douglasville. During the Civil War he served as a Confederate in the 3rd Alabama Cavalry. In about 1876, he removed to the plantation of his mother near Lithia Springs, where he was Mayor of Douglasville from 1885-1886 and 1892 to 1894. He married on 15 January 1879, Mary M. Strickland, the daughter of William P. and Mary (McLarty) Strickland. Issue:

- Joseph S. James, was born 20 March 1849 in Campbell County. He was the first Mayor of Douglasville in 1876; Senator in 1886; and U. S. District Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia in 1893. He married in 1869 Margaret Elizabeth Maxwell, the daughter of E. W. Maxwell of Douglas County. Issue:
