Uriah Humphreys b. 1704 Botetourt Co., Va., d. Ca 1817 in Clarke Co., Ga., m. Nancy Statham. Clarke Co. Guardian's Bonds: Nancy Humphries was made guardian of Joseph, Patsy, Elijah, Presley Thornton, Madison Tigner and Julian Humphries, orphans of Uriah Humphries. Date: 7/7/1817 Clarke Co. George W. Moore and David Nowles, exrs.
The LWT of Uriah Humphries, p. 83, Clarke Co. Will Book A, dated 7/26/1816. Caveat overruled and will admitted to probate on 3/21/1818. Says his three daughters, Leddy, Polly and Mariah have already been provided for. Bequeaths to wife, Nancy, and to son, Joseph, daughter, Patsy, son, Elijah, son, Presley, son Mattison, daughter Julia Ann. I have had a number of children by another woman in Virginia before I came to Ga., all have been provided for, but they will probably try to claim a portion of my estate. Their names are: Mary Ann McLeod, Betsy Tigner, Herderson, Nancy Kimberling, Judy Lane, George Washington Humphries and Uriah Humphries.
